Archeologist have uncovered evidence that shows people have been using glues and adhesives sense about 4000 BC. Ancient Greeks used early glues for carpentry and had ingredients for glue that included egg whites, blood, bones, milk, cheese, vegetables, and grains. The glue stick was inspired by the Twist-up ease and convenience of push up lip sticks, this was the very first glue stick that you had to twist to use it. The company decided on the name "Prit" and it stuck. Only two years after its creation the glue stick was available in 38 different countries. The Success of the glue stick led to Prit producing a wider variety of products such as Powerprit, Powerprit Gel, Powerprit stick, and Prit Tape.

With the success of their products Henkel has won six awards for their innovations and has sold over one billion glue sticks in 121 different countries. The Henkel company now produces over 650,000 glue sticks a day, that"s roughly 130 million a year.

Along with Henkel, other companies such as Elmers, 3M, UHU, Kores, and Snopake also produce glue sticks and other adhesive products. The Glue stick has been around for awhile and has gone through many changes during its time. These glue sticks come in many different varieties of size, color, non-toxic, washable, and acid free. From some of its main ingredients being blood and bones, glue has gone through many changes and is now an essential part of the modern day life.
