Shaping Your Candles

These profiles are possible because of the use of molds where the molten wax is poured right after coming from the double boiler. There are, therefore, as many shapes of candles as there are shapes of molds.

The molds are made of plastic, metal, or rubber. Like everything else, each of these has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Beginners are often advised to start with plastic. This is because they are the cheapest so that if you find that candle-making is more stressful than relaxing, you can easily give the molds away. The second best thing about them is that warm water and soap are more than sufficient to keep them clean. However, their quality is poor and they tend to be brittle resulting in a shorter lifespan. Among metal molds aluminum is the most popular. This heat-resistant and durable mold is capable of producing smooth and seamless candles. They are often used for making votive and pillar candles. Although aluminum molds are more expensive than plastics, they are cheaper than rubber molds. Cleaning is also easier compared to their rubber cousins. All you need to do is to turn them upside down over a baking sheet and heat them up to 150÷°F in your oven. A downside to aluminums is that the selection of choices of shapes is limited by their lack of flexibility. A releasing agent is also required to get the finished candle out of the mold.

Rubber molds could be of polyurethane, silicon, or latex. Polyurethane molds are flexible thus offering a wider choice of shapes. However, they do not stretch well thus also requiring a releasing agent. Also, their strong odor can transfer to the wax making them unsuitable for scented candles. Silicone rubber is the most expensive of the lot but they are flexible and stretchable. Easily, they are the best of the rubber molds. You can also make you own molds using liquid latex and painting on a structure. A good coat of latex is needed but if you make your own molds, you have unlimited options open before you.Candles these days come in a myriad of shapes, styles, and sizes. Their designs could be of any geometric shape, from cubes through triangles and trapezoids to spheres. They could also have the contours of shells, flowers, clouds, animals, and even humans.

Online Video Poker - All The Fun, None of the Travel

Just as slot machines have captivated the patrons of casino"s worldwide, so too has video poker. But what about those of us who can"t afford to head to Atlantic City every weekend to play? Fear not my fellow readers, for I have found the Holy Grail. I shall name it: Online Video Poker. From its humble beginnings in 1979, Video poker has captivated the world with its stunning lights and mesmerizing sounds. But now, the lights and sounds can come from your own desktop computer or laptop. Online Video Poker, one of the main stables in the Virtual Casino industry has taken the internet by storm. The beauty of it is, you don"t have to go anywhere to enjoy its enticing beauty, and it is just like being in a real casino.Online Video Poker works the same way weather you are sitting in Las Vegas, or sitting in your living room. You deposit money, press a few buttons and (hopefully) collect your winnings. So why on earth would anyone want to play online, when they could get the real thing and the same result? The answer my friends is simple, convenience. Imagine you are where I am. A small town, the nearest city is an hour away. The town rolls up at midnight, and the only entertainment on the streets is watching the traffic lights blink yellow. Depressing isn"t it? Now you know what I go through. But the beauty is, I can simply hop on my computer fire up some software, and in a few moments I"m playing online video poker (and losing my shirt at it.)For those of us who have those travel restrictions, online video poker is the ultimate substitute. The home of these wonderful machines, online casinos, usually offer vegas-style odds, so you get that Vegas feel without the five hundred dollar a night hotel rate. Plus you don"t have to pay for all those extras. You want a beer? Go to the fridge and get it. Have to go to the bathroom? Don"t worry about collecting your winnings, waiting for that infernal ticket to print, or all the coins to drop into the tray, then hope you have a chip bucket big enough (don"t we wish) JUST GO! Your game will still be there, the old lady next to you won"t take your machine. In fact the only thing you have to worry about is a power failure, and even then your money is still safe, because its linked to an account that only you have the username and password (unless you are married, then you might have to worry about your spouse)If you are like me, and you just can"t afford to hop on a plane every night and fly to Las Vegas or Atlantic City, or wherever your nearest casino is, online video poker is the perfect solution. You can sit in your comfortable chair, drop the cash off your credit card, and play to your hearts content. Its just like being in the real thing, it pays the same, and as far as I"m concerned, it"s a lot more fun.
